With the end of the semester comes the end of our class readings. So, I wanted to dedicate this post to my personal thoughts on the textbook as a whole. After reading through the concepts and topics covered in the textbook throughout the semester, I can confidently say that I enjoyed the reading. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of reading class assigned texts. However, I am super passionate about social media marketing, which made this textbook an easy read.
I believe that the text did a great job of covering the most prominent social media platforms and exactly how to utilize them to amplify a brand or company. In specific the text covered platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and a few other key platforms. All of which I really believe are essential to any brand’s social media strategy. I also really enjoyed that with the overview of each platform came tips and tricks on content strategy for that platform. I think this really helped to give a deeper understanding of each platform’s algorithm and how it can help a brand meet it’s campaign goals. I also felt like the text provided really good examples of social campaigns that had been successful with larger brands. This definitely helps to understand what practices really work when it comes to marketing through social media. Lastly, I enjoyed that there was a simulation paired with the text. As an aspiring social media manager myself, it was fun to get to practice some of the strategies we covered throughout the semester. I also think that this aspect is especially useful to those who have never had to plan out a content strategy and step into the role of a social media manager. It definitely helps to give a deeper insight into what goes into a successful social media campaign.
