For my first post, I want to make an official introduction. My name is Jasmyn Weller and I am a senior marketing major, with a minor in Spanish, at Ohio Northern University. In addition to being a student, I am the president of the Latino Student Union (LSU) and have recently become a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). I have served as president for LSU since I was a freshman, which has been and continues to be a source of pride for me. While I may be new to PRSSA, I am very excited to participate and take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the organization.
When I'm not going to class or working on homework, I am often found traveling for concerts or spending time with family and friends. My best moments are when I can combine the two and share my experience with my friends or family members. A fun fact about me is that I mainly listen to Latin music, this naturally means I have to travel for concerts since many of my favorite artists haven't made their way to Ohio yet. However, I have always loved traveling, so it's always great opportunity for me to mix two huge passions of mine. My most recent adventure was a quick trip to Chicago with one of my best friends the weekend before the fall semester started. We had an amazing time seeing CNCO, a Latin boyband, live and were lucky enough to get front row!
Music is only one of my many interests. Cooking is another passion of mine that I partake in regularly. I'm a huge traditionalist when it comes to cuisine and love to share my culture with others through food. For example, I often make Pozole and Birria for my roommates. I also, specialize in making multiple meals found throughout Latin America, such as Mangรบ, Seco de Pollo and Ropa Vieja. So, if you ever need a recipe or want to try some good food, you know where to find me.
I'm glad I was able to share a little bit about myself and my passions. Hopefully, you leave this post feeling like you know me a little better than before and maybe you even found that we have something in common.
Hi Jasmyn! I too am also a massive fan of cooking. Food is one of the main ways I feel like different cultures can come together, mostly just from sharing one another's recipes. I will be sure to look up what Pozole and Birria are, they sounds very interesting!
ReplyDeleteJasmyn, it was great reading this post and getting to know your introduction! Glad to see you enjoy music a lot, that is probably one of my favorite things also. I hope we can all take some good things out of this class, and I think these blogs are a good start, your blog was also written very well.
ReplyDeleteJasmyn, its so nice to learn about your interests. Congratulations on becoming the president of the Latino Student Union! My freshman year I went to a few of the LSU events and it was super fun. I also love how you have a passion to cook especially foods from your culture!
