My Trip to Chicago

As promised, I’m going to continue my deep dive into the adventures I had over the summer. This one was by far my favorite trip! One of my best friends and I traveled to Chicago, Illinois the weekend before classes started. Our main reason for taking this trip was to attend a concert, but we decided to take some time to experience Chicago too.

The day we flew in was off to a bit of a rough start seeing as we had to wait for around two hours for an Uber while in eighty-nine-degree weather. However, the day started to make a comeback once we were on our way to the hotel. Our Uber driver was super nice and took the time to explain some history about the city and which spots were going to be the best sites to visit. Also, once we arrived at our hotel, we were so excited to see that our room had a great city view that was super picture worthy! We ended up finishing our first day in Chicago on a high note after eating dinner at Nobu and ordering the Omakase tasting menu paired with the beloved lychee and elderflower martinis, it was to die for!

Obviously, we had to visit Cloud Gate, otherwise known as The Bean. It was so cool to see it in person and we got to take some amazing pictures while in Millennium Park. I highly recommend stopping by the park and seeing all the amazing exhibits, especially if you’re looking for some awesome photo opportunities. However, the real highlight for me was our last day of the trip. We had the opportunity to see a performance by my favorite band, CNCO. The last time I was able to see them in concert was before the pandemic, so I was extremely excited to see them again. After waiting in line for four hours we finally made it into the venue, and we were lucky enough to get front row! This was especially awesome because both my friend and I had multiple chances to react with the band members throughout the concert. Each of the band members, except for one, reached out to hold my friend’s hand at some point throughout the concert. In my case, one of the band members grabbed my phone to record a video with me, which was so exciting! Having the chance to be front row and see the performance up close and personal was a dream come true! I always say CNCO is my good luck charm, because every experience I’ve had with them so far has included front row to the performance and getting pictures with the band members, and this trip kept that trend going.

Overall, my experience in Chicago was one of the best traveling experiences I’ve had. Getting to spend time in a new city with one of my favorite people while getting to see my favorite band is the best way to end summer vacation.

  1. Jasmyn! I am beyond jealous of your Chicago Trip! I have been to Chicago countless amount times, but I've never had a trip there as exciting as yours! I can't believe you went to Nobu. I've always wanted to try the food there but never got the chance. I was in Malibu a couple months ago and almost went to the famous one on the Pacific Coast highway but couldn't get a reservation. I also can't believe a member from your favorite brand took a video with you! Ahhh I would be beyond astatic. Thank you so much for sharing quite an adventurous trip and I hope you find yourself on many more!
