The Homecoming Parade

This past weekend homecoming festivities took the ONU campus and Ada community by storm. Ever since I was a freshman, I’ve enjoyed how much life and fun homecoming brings to campus each year. While I wish I had been able to attend more of the festivities over the weekend, I was only able to attend the homecoming parade. However, I still had a great time at the event and loved seeing such a great turnout for the parade.

Early Saturday morning my friend, Makala, and I went grocery shopping to pickup some ingredients for breakfast. Our goal was to make it back home before the parade so could have time to cook breakfast and still make it to the parade on time. Luckily, we made it back to our house early enough to make a delicious breakfast. We then proceeded to wrap up our breakfast, so that we could take it with us to the parade, and head to the parade. Our house is pretty close to Mainstreet, so it was only a short walk for us. It was going great, until a bee started harassing my friend and I. Whether it was the food we had or the scent of our perfume, I’m not sure, but this bee would not leave us alone for the entirety of the parade. As I’m sure most of you know, the bee situation on campus has been a little crazy lately, I definitely feel like I have never had so many encounters with bees chasing me. However, we still made the most of the parade and had a great time overall.

It was so fun seeing and hearing the ONU band play, and even the local high school band perform as well.  All the floats looked creative, and everyone was really showing up with school spirit. The entire event was full of excitement and is such a great memory from homecoming weekend. I even live tweeted the event, so you can catch up on some of the highlights on my Twitter account (@Jasmyn23842471).
