As most of us know, this past weekend was Halloween weekend. To preface, I love Halloween, it is most definitely one of my favorite holidays. Now that I’m a senior and live off campus, I have the space to hold gatherings. So, my roommates and I decided to host a Halloween party to celebrate the holiday.
My weekend began on Friday seeing as my only class for the day was cancelled, which was a super lucky turn of events. So, on Friday my roommate Makala and I spent the afternoon and early evening cleaning our house and decorating for our party. We had tons of fun decorating and really getting creative with our space. We even built a spider web on the ceiling using streamers, hung up some LED lights, and had a fog machine to add some spookiness to the atmosphere. Later that evening, we helped host an event with the Student Planning Committee (SPC) as members of the Latino Student Union (LSU). The event included haunted walking tours, fritters and apple cider, and pumpkin painting. It was super fun to collaborate with SPC to bring a ton of Halloween fun to campus.
Moving onto the real celebration, our party was on Saturday. We had some friends come over and dressing up in a costume was mandatory. It was great seeing everyone’s costumes and getting to hangout with friends while celebrating such a fun holiday. We had snacks laid out for everyone and even had a photo booth area of the house so everyone could take pictures in their awesome costumes. We spent the evening playing games, eating, and dancing.
On Sunday morning, we cleaned up all the decorations leftover from the previous night, which was definitely not as fun as putting them up, and I made homemade waffles for everyone. Overall, I had a great Halloween weekend and am already looking forward to next Halloween. I hope all of you had a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween!
Jasmyn, that sounds like so much fun to be able to have your own place to have the opportunity to through your own halloween party for all of your friends!! I can’t wait until I have my own place to do the same!
